The head of the Federal Aviation Administration says top official of the agency oversees the traffic system air U.S. resigned following disclosures controllers have been sleeping on the job.
FAA administrator Randy Babbitt said in a statement Thursday that Hank Krakowski, head of Air Traffic Agency Organization, submitted his resignation. Chief Adviser of the FAA, David Grizzle, will temporarily take on the functions of the Krakowski while the research of the Agency for a replacement.

He said recent disclosures of "unprofessional conduct on the part of some individuals" rightly caused the travelling public to question the system.
Wednesday, the FAA said that it was adding a second controller night 26 airports and the United States radar facility after finding several cases of sleeping on duty controllers.
The announcement was made hours after a medical flight carrying at least three people, landed at the Airport International of Reno - Tahoe in Nevada without help, because the pilot was unable to raise the airport tower controller.
Another controller, to Boeing Field - King County International in Seattle, also was suspended for falling asleep during his quarter morning Monday.
Two controllers at the airport in Lubbock, Texas, have also been suspended for a similar incident in the early morning hours of March 29.
The latest cases follow three previously disclosed incidents in which the controllers were suspended, including two episodes of sleeping on duty controllers.
