Toyota production reduced until the end of the year

Toyota Motor Corp., the world largest manufacturer, said Friday that he get his world automobile production back to normal until November or December.

Toyota production has been disrupted by a lack of parts following the earthquake on 11 March the Japan and tsunami, which killed about 25,000 people.

"For all clients who took the decision to purchase a vehicle by us sincerely sorry to enormous delay in the delivery," Akio Toyoda company President, said in a statement issued before a press conference.

The company said that the shortage of parts has already resulted in loss of production of 260 000 cars.

Earlier this week, Japanese Toyota plants resume production for the first time since the earthquake and tsunami, but they work only at 50% of their capacity.

Toyota North American plants do not work on Mondays and Fridays from April 26 to June 3. Plants, which include plants in Ontario, in Cambridge and Woodstock will take place in half of the capacity on the other days of the week, and they will halt production at the end of may for the holidays.

The decrease in production may threaten the position of motor vehicle top Toyota. General Motors could regain the number one spot, it has lost in 2008.

In 2010, Toyota sold 8.42 million vehicles, while GM sold 8.39 million.
